As long as there's heat, the dog won't care what created it. Is that a chocolate Lab? Nice dog. One of my good friends has one the same color.

Its been in use 4 years and I think it's a decent owb for the $. It may not be as efficient as some ie central boiler, but it was @ 1/2 the cost, is a very simple design and easy to fix if needed and a very heavy duty firebox- 1/2" steel.

Here's my Drolet Austral. Pretty basic stove but it keeps my 1800 sqft house toasty. Been a work horse for 3 years now.

I installed it myself in front of the junk zero clearance heatilator fireplace insert that was present when we bought the house.20160315_223648.jpg

Retired friend of ours has been sitting on this old Atlanta Stoveworks "Huntsman" for 20 years, we worked an easy deal as it's been just taking up room in his shed and he's looking to sell out and move.

I found this bus for sale on one of my recent trips, figured if I can get anything at all for our Home I'll buy that bus and put the stove in it. Find a quiet spot and rough it until we can afford something without wheels lol...

It's a Pacific Energy T-6 Alderlae non-cat. Overall it's not a bad unit, but if I were to do it again there would either be a Jotul Black bear if I went for a non-cat or a Woodstock Soap Stone if I went the cat route. I may still pick up a Woodstock as a neighbor has 2 new in the crate never fired (I forget the model but one of the larger ones) of which She offered either one to me at $1800. We'll see as a seconde stove wouldn't hurt this old farm house (and my propane bills) one bit. We lose power too (often in the Winter) and I like the rugged simplicity of a stove. I will have a boiler someday hen I build a new house, but I'll still have a regular stove for the ambiance and the mesmerizing enjoyment of watching the fire dance on a cold night.

The wood in the fire at the time of the pic was well-cured Hedge FWIW.

Photobucket trashed my pics on the post above. I dumped Photobucket. So, here is my Federal Airtight 288 stove, and the ash pan is below the firebox:

And here is Lady, my late flat-coated retriever enjoying the incredible heat produced by this stove:

Nice looking stove Mel. Bus looks good too. I would think if you open that top draft valve a little before you open the door, it would clear the smoke pretty well. I like smell of smoke as long as it's outside...

I like that setup! Right next to the barn with the fire and the supply. How do you load the remnants of the grain bin after the door opening is covered?

Gonna give this old stove a face lift and install it in my shop this summer. I'm not sure what make it is (haven't looked). I really need some heat in the shop. Seems like I'm in the shop more in the winter then in the summer.View attachment 4538

Well, how goes it?
