Good morning everyone,

New to the forum here. Learning a lot, bunch of great stuff on here.

So here's my problem. Got a 461 that was rebuilt recently. Everything was running fine , no problems at all.

So I go to start it yesterday and it won't run. Full choke and half choke is fine but it wont stay running.

I tuned it a couple weeks ago with a tach, around 2800 idle and 13500 full load.

So I check a few things last night, compression good at 160 ish, vac and pressure good also. Spark plug looks good.

The only thing I changed was get some new gas from the fuel station down the street.

Do you guys think it might be a ethanol issue ? I put the same gas in a 201t I have and she runs fine.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

Could be related to the LA adjustment?
I would go back to a 1 and 1 preset and try tuning it again. If you still have no luck, try a different carb that you know is good.

So you tested the vac and pressure and it passed right?
Like the above poster said go to 1 turn out on both jets and see what happens.
Fuel filter on?
Is fuel line cracked?
Next try cleaning carb out with spray cleaner don't blow high pressure air in it!
Next if that fails replace carb with OEM one otherwise you wont know whats failing the new carb or other parts.

So I messed around with the carb when I got home, nothing made it work.

Put in a new walbro and she fired right up, no problem.

Anybody have any ideas as why the other carb would fail like that ? It was brand new when rebuilt.

Blew high pressure air in it and damaged a valve?

I must have 40 bad carbs in a cardboard box.

I think I'm gonna stop by the small local airport and see if I can get some of that ethanol free gas.

I didn't use any high pressure air on it.

Is there a good way to test the carb ?
Pressure test at the fuel pipe may show a leak, otherwise the real test is on the saw. H and L jets could be bent or mushroomed also. You could have put a part in wrong also go back and re check. Sometimes you just cant fix them because the problem is hidden in an inside passageway.
