That’s quite the saw. Nice seeing big guns getting used. That cottonwood looked like trouble. Hope it went down without issue.

What a great shot! Looks like the only tree for miles.

Long time no reply. Hope everyone is staying safe.

Standing dead elm tree. Another customer of mine was driving by and took this of me in the lift

I wish I had taken pictures. Next time I'm there, I'll snap some of the scary stumps. Most are 5' tall and have bizarre angled cuts with splinters a foot tall.

There are about seven trees just laying on top of each other at all sorts of angles in one spot.

Well, I keep forgetting to take pictures of the stumps, but I snapped a couple of the job site today. My 15 year-old and I, and some weeks my 12 year-old, have been on this job for four weekends now. Still have several weekends to go.

SVT, at least with Ash you can split it and sell it for firewood this year, no waiting!

Luckily, we're just bucking and doing cleanup of a horrible felling job another crew did. She's paying very well, and we've hooked her up with buyers for the unsplit wood. In turn, she sells it and uses that money to finance future endeavors of ours. She has a ton more trees needing dropped properly and then cleaned up. We'll have work at her place into Spring for sure.

She's also found several clients for us who need felling done. It's been a beautiful relationship.

The downside to our evening was my MOFO 046 being sidelined for most of the night. I got into a strange bind in a large log, with a new chain which was still stretching. A perfect storm of sorts.

The result was the first thrown chain I've ever experienced personally. Crazy, I know...I've just always been on top of re-tensioning and whatnot.

Usually when you throw a chain the drive links are what get damaged. You have to remove the chain, check that it fits in the bar slot, and file every driver that does not fit smoothly. It can be a real PITA!

Big Tree.

Please turn your shackle around next time so the pin is thru to the Stationary part of the Bull Rope. (The Eye)

That's precisely what happened. Looks like 10-12 of the 84 links need massaged.

And this is the maim reason I switched all my saws to .063 gauge. I throw less chains, and when they throw I have always been able to salvage them. .050 I threw seemed daily, and they wadded up easier. And would bend drive links. Not sure OPs gauge, but good for thought to some.

I use .063 on all my 3/8(aside from LP, ofc). This was just a freak accident involving somepoor judgement...I should have checked tension after the first few cuts in 30" stuff.

She's the best! She brings us hot cocoa made from scratch during the job, and leaves a thermos for us. After work, she always has a warm meal ready on the porch to see us off. Yesterday was chili :)

Wow.

That sounds like the Ideal Client: I’m in search for some of those.

She really is. They're definitely few and far between. Hopefully she'll keep us working for a long time. She enjoys our company, so I'd imagine she'll find things for us to do.

She paid a little extra the previous weekend because I "fixed" her pressure washer. It wasn't working properly, and upon inspection I found leaves clogging the inlet. :)

...then she served up sloppy joes.
