I tried coconut oil a while back because it was that or motor oil and I'm pretty sure used 15-40 will eat wood lol. Its been working decent at least on my hunting knife.

You guys are lucky to be able to afford to collect those fine axes.
I make do with a Gransfors axe with a 2 3/4 lb head, I use for tapping in wedges,
cutting saw free, (no need to so far), removing bushes to get in to cut, and I split some
with it too, have a log splitter so as of yet no need for a Fiskars splitting
axe, though in time I will be getting one just in case the log splitter malfunctions
in the middle of a job, I might also leave it laying around to incentify people
into being more productive, or else, use the Fiskars, some people need to know
that their day could get a whole lot tuffer so they appreciate how things need to be.

I spent more than I should have but I like to think my kids will thank me someday lol.

I normally use boiled linseed oil but I was out that day and feeling lazy.

I boil it too, hard to tell what the next generation will think of our stuff,
their world will certainly be different than ours, though an axe beside the bed
could come in handy, and one under the seat of the car, maybe one in the bathroom
just incase we get caught with our trousers down, and one in the hall just in case one
of all*s boys comes calling, really need more axes.

Yep, our donkeys in government are led by the EU,
they ensured we had no such items before they opened the door to the boys who destroyed every place they ever set foot in since the beginning of time, all they leave behind is sand and rubble, and we have our numb nuts to thank for letting them in.

Not saying I have or don't have a No 12, not saying I keep axes in the house for
anything other than to keep them from rotting away outside,
so if big brother is reading, do have a nice day.

Nice, a few weeks back I saw a cracker of an axe head on ebay uk, for cheap too, there is still an elwell
on there, looks good, 25.00.
You probably know Elwell are English, they made axes when forrests were cut with nothing else and were in business up to the 40 's I think, thats an old axe head and I would have it if I liked ebay, which I don't.
Edit: I see at least one more Elwell in even better nic, 26.00
