Got to start on on some cherry logs today which was the impetus to stop messing around with inferior products and saws and build my mill and equip it with a proper milling saw. Got the saw from @riverrat2 and the bar and chain from @Ryan Browne
The pics show a before shot. A few setup shots. I stole the guide rail setup from @czar800 and it works lovely. The pics of the sideway angle iron are winding sticks so I can get my guide rails dead on. It's an old times woodworkers trick for flattening lumber with a hand plane. There is a shot of my never before seen and just finished MS446 hybrid doing some freehand side milling. And finally the shot of the mill itself.
Chainsaw milling is tough work and I am beat. The mill is time consuming to set up but I think I am going to make some thickness blocks like those of @czar800
Fun part was this was in a pretty tight residential area and muffler modded 660s are plenty loud.
