Decided on using the CROSS jug. Unpacked it and found this in the intake side corner of the upper transfer:

A 3/16" ball of casting sand. It coulda been an aluminum booger that I had to grind out, so I guess I'm lucky.

Can't imagine what woulda happened to a guy that unwrapped it and bolted it on. Wouldn't have been good.

Me no RIKEY.

I'm gonna run a gasket, because I'll be pulling this sucker apart a bunch of times. I've got a Chinese 066 builder case a buddy sent me. Something had gone wrong and the owner swapped it out. I pulled the piston and found this gem around the piston pin

Here are the numbers with the gasket. The ex roof is flattish, but nowhere near as bad as the Hyway big block jug-it has an exhaust port that is truly rectangular.

Squish was 26 for me with gasket and only 7 without. Most guys got 18 sans gasket. I'm using a meteor slug and not the supplied one.

That's where I got yesterday.

The upper transfers are just HUGE on the jug. I have to see where the crown it at BDC and make some decisions here.

My exhaust roof is down to 105* at present.

As this is more of a play than worksaw, I have a feeling the transfer tunnels are getting cut open. Stay tuned.

Nah, a torquey Bruiser.

I believe we will be cutting 32" of material.

I don't have a 32" bar, so I'm hoping someone will be kind enough to lend me one when I'm there.

I also can't follow all the rules (I mean can't remember ever nuance) so I'm not sure what class I'll be in with a meteor piston.

If the supplied slug is lower than the Meteor, that may be to your advantage. It came with cabers with the Cross jug.

Anxious to see how this comes out.

The idea was to keep build cost low so more people would play. If any aftermarket pistons were allowed, one of those blue single ring pistons would be legal, and offer an advantage to whoever was willing to spend more money.
So Is welding allowed in class 2?

I don't think it's disallowed Al.

The rules mainly deal with using parts that come with the kit. I can't recall putting anything in there about welding or not welding.

Like you....I'm pretty pressed for time, so I'm not gonna go dig thru the rules to be 100% sure right now.
