Advice needed for dropping this tree

Hello Gents

Wanted to see if y'all might be able to weigh in here on the best way to take out this tree?

Should i try and whack off these limbs then tackle the trunk or just go ahead and notch it right away at the trunk?

I'd be running a 461 with a 32" bar

Tree has not been dead but for a couple months

I don't have access to a bucket truck.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated

I'd probably nip that co-dominant leader off on the left side (if I could reach it safely) and then fall the rest toward the inclination of most of the remaining limb weight. If you're not completely sure, you could put a line in a prominent vertical leader that looks to have structural soundness and then keep tension on it.

It's hard to tell from pictures? What kind of tree is it? Is it hollow? Is there anything it can reach if pieces fall? I see primary electric wires across the road. Can you reach the fork from the ground? If so then yeah you could take off the side facing the road then drop the rest into the yard. That's assuming that lead won't hit the wires and there's nothing it can hit going the other way. There's many ways to skin a cat. You could likely put a line in it for safety, notch, and wedge it over where it needed to go if there's good solid hinge wood. Most importantly be safe. What you don't want to do is cut from a ladder(just look up chainsaw fails on youtube to understand that one), or hit those primary wires and light the place up.

The crown weight, side lean and head lean all look to be in favor of falling away from the road IMO. It wouldn't hurt to lighten the limbs facing the road though. Just need to be smart on how you cut those if you've never cut branches.

That's kinda what I was thinking.
Do y'all think that I should have to worry about this tree trying to split on me halfway through the back cut?

(Hasn't been dead for long, you can still see the leaves on some of the branches)

No expert but if its not hollow you shouldnt have to worry more than you would anyway. Make sure its not hollow though. Also, be advised that tree may roll or flop when it falls. Be nimble and ready to move

It's actually a pin oak so the wood should be pretty good

Tree came down with no issues whatsoever exactly where I wanted it to

(This saved our church a batch of money and I got to run one of my saws in the process)
