Today I sorted chain repair links. Trying to figure out what a bunch of baggies of unidentified links fit. So I had out my calipers, feeler gauges, magnifier and sharpie. Think I have em all figured out now and sorted in a little bin.

I did come up with some very large links that measured out to 9/16". I've never laid eyes on any 9/16" chain but if I ever encounter some I'll have joining links for it, lol.

I cleaned up 4 crankcase assemblies in a parts washer larger than our powder room.

.... not really. The washer was only 6'x6'x2' .... 10 minutes and they were spotless.

The BIG washer was there, but a bit of overkill for my stuff.

I cleaned my new to me 262 plastics and crankcase in my buddies parts washer. Called the dealer and ordered the one part I forgot the first time . Then I skidded some firewood logs up to the landing.

I put tank two through the freshly minted Mastermind 026 Pro bucking dead red oak with a 16" laminated bar & SG chain. Then I flew to Detroit & back to help with the CAD bill.... Then I drawed a bunch of run on sentences on a CS forum.

I used to fly to Detroit and back too but that's been a lot of years ago. I mostly used to fly to Chicago and back and back and back. Twice a day, five days a week...

After you break it and need some parts, I may have them. I've been saving some old Husky weedeater parts for no good reason other than I figured as soon as I tossed them, I'd need them. (I actually bought a broken one to fix and discovered it was kaput)

Spent most of today trying to assemble a Husqvarna 55. Cleaned up the OEM cylinder and put a Farmertec piston in it. Deleted the base gasket. Had to replace the recoil spring, the chainbrake handle is kaput, the throttle linkage was messed up so I changed the tank handle with one that had good linkage, replaced the rim sprocket, installed a working chain adjuster, opened up the carb which was toast, opened up a different carb which needs a trip through the USC but later. Found a bar/chain combo. Ironically it takes a .325 x .050 x 72dl chain and I just cleaned all those out of here. lol.

I've got two+ more saws worth of parts but I'm missing enough specific pieces that I won't rebuild another one without an additional donor saw. After that happens someday, I may just sell off all my 55 stuff as I just don't enjoy working on them all that much...

The one I'm doing now is still going to require more stuff to finish it. Hope it runs great because it may need to earn its keep as I'm getting in pretty deep.

The next saws I build are going to be 1123 series (Stihl 021/025, etc) and then I have two large totes of parts to build 1130 series saws (Stihl 017/018).

What I should have done today is work on my broken air compressor, fix my broken van, work on my truck engine change, weld my tire machine lever, fix my engine balancer handle and do some general cleanup in the shop. But, didn't...
