@tomtrees58 you must work in the tallest trees around everyday. Whenever I open this thread your 75' truck is always stretched out and looking impressive. I've been dealing with little annoying blowdowns and trying to fit my truck into places too small. Nothing like taking mirrors off to get into a job

Those of you guys that do this for living, have my upmost respect, I had a few dangerous leaners over the house and some power lines.
Was refereed by a word of mouth to a very good fella who did exactly what he promised without damaging any property.
All this is beyond my capabilities, hiring someone knowledgeable makes a whole lot of difference.

Just got done with some monster elms one was 50+" for 20 feet above the ground and had a 125+ in span. The other was hollow and failed on a nice sunny day landing directly where the school staged its busses to load kids. Luckily it was summer or I'm sure they'd have had a giant lawsuit if someones kid was hurt. They came down pretty good considering the 100 degree heat index we fought during most of the removals IMG_2879.JPG

Got it at a good time. Just think. It could have come down on kids or staff if you didn't make it happen

Yeah they were very lucky it did not appear hollow and had a full green canopy. I would not have guessed it to be a risk just looking from the ground. But stem that failed had ants and part of a bees nest in it. It was so hollow it didn't seem possible that it could support such a full growing top. Definitely a reminder from this job to inspect things very closely when asked for a risk assessment. Not that they'd asked on this particular tree it was already laying in the street when I got the call.
