I'm guilty at times myself, but I do own a pair and wear em when I know I need em. Been lucky so far, cut through two pairs of double front jeans and one pair of chaps and not a scratch on myself.

I probably overdue it I never cut without chaps I have seen to many chainsaw accidents on safety films

I probably overdue it I never cut without chaps I have seen to many chainsaw accidents on safety films

I've seen 'em in person. One fella just about cut his foot off above the ankle. He just barely got to the hospital in time, few more minutes he would have been bled out and died. Glad he made it, and he wears his chaps now faithfully.
Both times I cut my jeans were with someone else saw that the chain would not stop on, and having to high step in either the snow or brush. Don't even know how I cut my chaps. I know one thing for darn sure, they're not seasonal.
