What happens if your child doesn't follow your beliefs or even turns out to be "gay"? I have far more important things to fret over than who other people may choose to be intimate with.
Well my child is a big, white, over twenty one, heterosexual *s-wordkicker and I worry A LOT about with whom he's intimate.
Sex does eventually turn into reproduction.

Yeah, I know what the dictionary says about that word, same with gay. That's got a different meaning too. It's pretty easy to tell from context, and tone how folks mean it, though.

You don't have to defend your syntax to me. Not as all. If you had a gay time with a queer young man at a lovely ball last weekend, that's awesome. If you had a fun time with an eccentric dude at a rager last weekend, that's fine too.

I have to imagine that some of the Old English nuts from centuries ago turned in their graves seeing where this language has gone. lol I mean...if you have to learn English for 12 stinkin years in school...somethings wrong with this language!

My kids would be one thing but Ill give u an idea on my belief of the topic. I was in a previous marriage that I found out that my brother in law was gay and married to another man. Every dang holiday or when he came he started bringing his husband with him, that I didnt have a clue about, and the gay flaming was on in open and boastful and to kick they were trying to convince my children it was ok. I had enough and a lawyer and 22000$ settled that mess so I didnt have to subject myself or children to it. Im remarried to a wonderful Christian woman and 100% happier now

The way a forum runs is the way a forum runs. If you don't like some of the things being said here, then I have a simple suggestion....Hit the Unsubscribe Button. Now don't come yelling and screaming at me for saying that, I am just stating a suggestion. Sounds rude and hateful, but how I am thinking of it is just a simple statement. lol Hard to tell a person's thoughts through the board sometimes so that is why I am explaining. We're somewhat rough crowd here, and frankly this is one of the most easy going forums I have been to yet. A place where I can freely say HELL NO without a moderator crying at me for "foul language." Just happened to me on another sight matter of fact. lol

I trust Randy's judgment, if he thinks something has gone to far he steps right in and does his job. If he doesn't, then the report button is there or you can PM him about it. There's been many times where jokes were taken seriously...I have taken them seriously many times without realizing that what a person thinks in his mind sometimes doesn't go through the key board. It's happened to me and to others reviewing my comments many a time. I don't always like the slang either, but regardless of it all....this forum is full of a ton of great hard working guys who share the same hobbies. And that's what counts. Weather our views on things be different...political...religious...language...Saw Brands(I'm gonna get burned now)....we have to put our differences aside and have a great time on this forum and live with each other for who we are. Which is a hardy bunch of guys with dangerous toys.......and still trying to compete with Randy's legs.

I'm gonna go back to my bench and eat lunch.

You basically said what I wanted to say -- thanks for speaking up.

I think what this is saying is it is on the offendee to stay clear of offensive stuff... It's really difficult to keep tabs on the myriad of things that might offend people (especially in today's world). If it's not about saws on here and offends you ... move on to the next thread that is about carbs and how they effect porting etc. If a thread goes off topic from carbs and porting to something offensive for a post or two -- move on and keep talking about carbs and porting...

Just this morning I heard something about a college campus where you can't ask where someone is from because it's a "microagression"... just beyond ridiculous. Where are you from? I'm from Massachusetts. We can't self throttle every single thing to cover all possible problems... when something comes out move on.

My opinion... feel free to agree or disagree.

Hey Jake, I hear you. I was teasing you in my last post, but I'm not trying to be a dickhead. I know we all had different circumstance growing up. I grew up beneath the poverty line too. I was lucky in about every other way, though. I know there's big cultural differences in this big country, and we aren't all gonna see eye to eye.

I'm doing my best to be honest and heart-felt in this thread. I'm glad as heck that you clicked on it. All I can do is try my best to explain myself and hope that folks won't hold it against me. If they read and consider all the words I've swiped on this little phone screen, that's icing on the cake.

Honestly, I know that the word isn't gonna stop getting used. This is the internet after all. I said my hope was for even one member to consider my suggestion, but in truth the reason i posted this thread is because I had to. If I'm true to what i believe, I gotta write this stuff here, because otherwise I'm just sitting here being a witness to hateful words without speaking up. I can't reconcile that with who I am.

Well, guys this has been fun. I appreciate everyone's perspectives. There's a baby sleeping on my shoulder who's about to wake up. Time to put the phone away and deal with the really important things in life.

Thanks to everyone for hearing me out.

The thing I find offensive? Simply how said words have been co-opted from their original English phraseology.

Take this for example

https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/slackergot

Should I start self censoring and no longer expose myself to 18th century literature?

There is intolerance on both sides of the equation, not just those that follow traditional / ingrained / conservative values.

It's a chainsaw forum fella's (heck are there any women on here? Not that it matters, people are people), enjoy, ignore, report or grow a thicker hide ;)

So if you said you were gonna catch a slackergot on fire, it could mean a bundle of sticks.

Or beating one with a hammer could mean iron rods.

Personally I do not believe that it is hate speech for using one certain word or another. Direct those words to an individual or group of individuals, then it's hate speech, otherwise it is just being insensitive. There are all different kinds of folks here, from all over the world, from all different walks of life, there's going to be things said not everyone likes. Unless they are being said directly toward you, let it go, move on, do what you have to and get over it. If on the other hand some one was to call you out, call you a dirty cotton rock sucker, then get your dander up a bit.
Every time we try to get rid of a word, it just leads to getting rid of more words, until it becomes difficult to communicate with each other I don't see the pattern changing. Pretty poor way to live if you ask me, being afraid to say the wrong word.
Hate is a pretty bad word, lets ban it next.

Yes the same here for years over here slackergots of wood are bundles of wood tops that where put under bales of hay too keep them of the ground for the winter then they would dry out and would be used to light the house fires

Or father would beat us with one of them sticks for feeding the pigs cider so we could get them drunk and ride um like a horse ha ha
