Picked up this little council miner's axe, thought it would be handy. Big 4lb bead looked decent for driving wedges.

Not sold on it yet. Short and heavy, with straight handle. Plus it's duller than my...well, it's pretty dull.

Honestly, as hokey as it looks, the chopper was a splitting machine! Us kids got one for my Dad many moons ago. We didn't know any better than to buy a "gadget."

Thing is, it actually split like a beast! Used it for many years, finally lost a spring.

I use to have one of these. Honestly it did a descent job.
