Let's See That Old Iron

Who here has old iron? I've got an old Massey Ferguson MF300 crawler. I cracked the block early this year......finding a good block I could afford was tricky........and I just got a new set of Perkins liners. Gathering parts for a rebuild now.

Got this old Cat 955 back in 2001 it runs out great. It needed a new head last year but everything else looked good!

It blew a head gasket.....and like a *pretty boy I tried to get one more load out. When I hit the starter, it hydro-locked and cracked the block.

It is possible. But would require welding, then machine work to refit the liners. I found a '78 model engine that was locked up because of rust in the cylinders. I'm gonna put new sleeves in that block.

I think you are on the right track here(no pun intended), from what old timers have told me, trying to repair a cracked block like yours will most likely end up with a repeat failure. Something about flex in the block or some such thing seems to me. That would be a lot of work to have go phooey.

Looks like the grille and hood are the same as the 74 case backhoe i have at home .
