Haven't read every poast but I think I've read enuff to get the gist. If the SOB didn't at least acknowledge who the saw was from, whether one or a collaborative effort from two or more, and who provided the top cover and how folks might go about getting a high quality cover that is OEM NLA...Got damn if I wouldn't be on his ass to get my saw back. Just a slap in the face as he definitely knows you Mattyo have ties here, and he's laying low so OPE never gets mentioned, the riff raff with that fat POS IronTurd and Randy, and the cylinder bullshitt he tried to pull, etc, etc. He knows exactly what he's doing. Get the saw back from the ungrateful *freakin'' Billy POS or whatever his name is!

My two coins anyhow! Back to regularly scheduled programming...

Its funny how you all make assumptions about a man you know nothing about. You want to know why it went down the way it did, because Matt said (and I am paraphrasing) that the 288 would wipe the floor with his 394, A 394 that he was using the day a snag off in the distance dislodged and broke his back and leg, essentially the day he almost died...Because none of you personally know the man, you dont know that he gives thousands that he makes off of youtube to the homeless shelters every month. He has probably donated more money and done more good for people than anyone here...

Well I said all along I did not know Buckin, nor could I judge him, I got the impression he was not interested in self glory, instead he was into sharing the word, he showed forgiveness, he talked about kindness and love. Am very pleased to hear of his good works, for word without works are pointless.

27 minutes of wayyy too much balh blah blah for me...never hit the darn "fwd" button so many times before. Matty glad you got the tops made. I searched for years for a hi Top cover...had to buy an entire saw just for the top...of course that lead to rebuilding the saw anyways....did you mention the pricing anywhere for these tops and i missed it...I know for a while the "blue" performance ones were about $250 years back..

Buckin can do what he pleases with the saw. Its his ....though I do believe it would be most honorable to send it back (at my expense) if its really not his thing.

What sux is that he missed the point on the covers...and the entire community loses.

I can do some pretty cool stuff that China isn't gonna do as far as parts go. I just can't do it unless the 288 covers get more exposure. Its not about buckin or the saw or me. Its about keeping these older saws relevant and cool and having cool non China parts going forward.

Again...if that's not his thing then indeed my bad.

Matt I think your heart was in the right place but you choose poorly in who to send the saw too. If it were me I’d have picked someone with no negative history here at Ope. Someone like Reg Cotes or another smart old school arborist. I know easy to say in hindsight (there’s another innuendo for you @sawmikaze ). Bummer it didn’t turn out the way you had envisioned.

I think this is a good reminder to folks that there ain't nothing our OPE brothers and sisters can't fix or at least break permanently.
You could have sent that saw around to all the builders and pro end users with YouTube channels and gotten the word out to more folks and you would still have a demo saw when you were done.
There's more than a few parts peddlers on here that I would think could take some product off your hands, whole sale price is better than no price at all.
Another idea I have is, it might be good to have a filter parts kit with everything needed to convert from a low top saw, surely folks would be interested in that I would think help with sales.
Good luck with this, would like to see these types of projects succeed. You're probably looking at a long haul though I'm afraid.
