My first experience with milling was with a big piece of walnut. I have a friend who is an arborist and he sometimes gives me the wood from removals in return for my help. This day was a big 'ol walnut (and a few smaller trees). Having just acquired my 394(few years ago), I asked if I could chunk out the base into slabs for future lumber. He agree'd and these 2 are my first go round freehand.

And the rest was fire wood. ;)

Nearly broke our 3 backs loading them into the trailer! They sat @ my house for a while, until I saw an old neighbor friend post pics of a new Wood-Miser he just bought. He said bring 'em over. Endedup being the first wood he cut with it. He refused payment, of which I later paid with a case of his favorite brew. :beer-toast1:

And for the money shots...

Very nice looking chunks of lumber there. They have very nice color. I never see wood like that since I live in BFE

If I understood, this occurred a while ago. What did you make with the lumber?

Not sure yet jts, I hope to get back into woodworking full swing this spring/summer. Thinking maybe a live edge table with at least one of them.
