    MDG1 Help

Then, I would go to the dealer and see if his MDG1 communicates with the new saws. I find it strange for the same reasons as you. But it would be hard to believe that they would suddenly “limit” access to some saws, when in fact it appears they have, because they would alienate a large audience...

    MDG1 Help

Try manually updating the firmware. Go right to the top left corner to Firmware and click on update. Try it afterwards.

    MDG1 Help

I just checked , mine’s still working. I even manually updated the firmware and checked again. Worked faster. Two different saws, newest 7/22.

    MDG1 Help

I’ve used mine since then and it worked fine.I was checking out a 261 and got the unable to connect message and it turned out I had a bent pin in the connector to the carburetor. Once I got that squared away it worked.

The two I “had” turned out to be one. It has a little more paint than yours but is missing its badge entirely.

    HELP! Trouble with a 266se

Here’s an earlier mistake I uncovered. Thought it would fix it too. Never too old to learn.

    HELP! Trouble with a 266se

That fixed it. Saw runs awesome again. There’s more oil running out the bottom than onto the chain so, once it cools down I’ll recheck my oil o-rings. Thanks for all the helpful hints. I really appreciate you ALL.

    HELP! Trouble with a 266se

Well, seems that claiming to know something inside and out doesn’t prevent you from making mistakes. Found this right away. Hopefully it will fix the saw. Wife just got up so I’m out the door to find out.

Thanks everyone. Lots of good food for thought. For now I will take off the entire intake stack and have another good hard look at the carburetor.

    HELP! Trouble with a 266se

Hey guys, maybe I need a car battery upside the head or something. This 266 passes the press/vac test after replacing the oil seals. It passed before replacing the seals , results just got better after. The pto side o-ring looked to have been cut/mashed the last time installed so I replaced that...

    Somebody Owes Me Some Money

I know for certain that if you heat treated steel red and allow it to cool, it will be softer as a result. If you heat the same steel red and the quench it , it will be harder, in the middle and especially at the surface. A “case hardening” is the result. As a matter of interest, if you heat...

    Somebody Owes Me Some Money

I think an important distinction should be made here. It’s always been my belief that if you grind a cutter until it turns blue, you have ruined that cutter. If it gets hot enough to change colors, the temper has changed and it’s not harder, but softer. However, cutters that are blued from the...

    The Swap Meet Thread

I’m afraid I don’t have the part, but, In my experience, the cooling shield goes directly on the cyl with a gasket between it and the muffler. It conducts heat straight off the exhaust port into the cooling airstream. Very important part. Without it, you will see heat damage start to appear on...
