Anyone tried to split this wood? Think it broke my Countyline splitter

Can you post up a pic of a whole standing tree??

Anyone tried to split this wood? Think it broke my Countyline splitter

Probably cut through it sideways just as easy as lengthwise!! There was a fair amount of old elm around here but in the 70's the beetles brought Dutch Elm Desease in......some were saved but way over half surcumbed or were removed to stop the spread. They had all been planted along streets...

Anyone tried to split this wood? Think it broke my Countyline splitter

It looks like elm to me as well......miserable stuff to split...very confusing grain and once split burns like popular....quickly with no heat. Regardless the splitter is pretty wimpy if the structure fails before the motor stalls.

    Jonsered 52/52e

I have to give the OP credit for hand winding the mag coil on his 52! Though, like Bob, it's not something I would generally try to do. As he said, if you have one of these obsolete saws the best bet for parts is to find a dead one on the cheap that has what parts you need. You have to be...

    Jonsered 52/52e

You are right about the price between the 52 series and the 49SP. When I bought my original 49Sp in April 1977 the price at my closest dealer was $250.00 and the other two choices in the 49cc class was the points 52 at $275.00 and the 52E which was $300.00. I remember the salesman couldn't...

    Jonsered 52/52e

Well....A 52 is a 52....The only parts difference is when moving to a 52E then it is only the enite ign system that is different...everything else on the saw is the same early or late. But yeah you gotta have pics at least to make a realistic offer...

Worn throttle shaft on Husqvarna 261/2

You are correct. The 261 didn't get the 120. I was sure the one I have had a 120 but it does not. The 144 it has does not have the pump like the OPs carb either.

Worn throttle shaft on Husqvarna 261/2

Personally I would simply replace the carb with a decent used 120. There are plenty around as they also came on the 257, 261 and 262XP saws. Since these carbs do not have replacable throttle shaft bushings I would assume that how much ever the shaft was worn the carb body would exihibit...

Anyone had shoulder (rotator cuff) type surgery?

Take heed of the "Before Surgery" advise!!! I had a right shoulder joint replacement with a titainum ball and nylon socket and started long before to cultivate my left hand abilities. There are so many things we do and take for granted (like wiping) that when your lose use of one side or the...

    Good thickness planer

I have a number of planers.......and some of the afore mentioned ones. I own two DeWalt 12" portable planers......these do very well for a limited amount of planing. They should not snipe as there is no bottom rolls to adjust. If they do all you have to do is hold up gently on the end of the...

    Jonsered 52/52e

Also that gasket is best left undisturbed......generally cooked onto the cyl and really hard to clean up.....plus that gasket almost never fails. That's a good deal!!!

    Jonsered 52/52e

That is very usable by the looks......throw a new set of Cabers on and good to go.....

    Jonsered 52/52e

So......is a 52 or 52E? It's an early one either way. To bad about the P&C. Cyl will likely clean up by the usual methods. There is no new two ring pistons available for these saws.....however Northwoods Saw has a single ring AM piston by VEC for the 49sp which can be used. The wristpin...

    Ellsworth chainsaws

Putt"s an OPE dealer all the way Stihl, Husky, Toro etc. and I don't know what else. No porting happening there. Everything is OEM all the way. His shop services the entire Mount Desert Island/Bar Harbor estate OPE business......He's located on RT 3...the only way on or off the island. BIG...

    Another Wats Dat

I agree......likely for a 490/590 Jonsered, 5000, 5000+ Partner etc. The tab at the bottom bolts to the top of the fuel tank....they frequently metal fatigue right at the bend.

    Ellsworth chainsaws

Yep that's Putt"s shop.....been in that business a long time....Stihl dealer but I don't hold that against him.

    Old Jonesered Identification.

Have to post up a pic or pics if you want help on the Jonsereds saw. Id tag is not helpful on these saws.
