For those of you who knew Bob Johnson,I still keep in touch with him & give him a call every couple of months.I spoke with him about 3 weeks ago & he's still kicking.Same old Bob though with his sense of humor & a good story now & then to boot.He does get a bit confused though, but now that he's...

Yes Mark, the ash borer has raised hell with our ash trees here. The tree we just cut down was still alive, but it was dying.Very few ash trees left alive here.I love the smell of burning ash,but I tell everyone to savor that smell because it won't be long before it's gone.

My son & I went out cutting yesterday & got this load of ash home. There are 2 more loads about the same size to ghet home yet.We used the 10-10S that I'd acquired back in late March to do the heavy bucking. That was my first time using a 10-10S that was in dercent running condition.I was...

Well I think I toasted my PM 10-10 engine today.I put new crank seals in & put the saw back together, fueled it up & began pulling.I'd set the carb settings back to a more conventional setting - 1 1/2 turns out on each. The saw wouldn't fire,so I set the needles back to the rich setting & it fired...

I used to buy my seals from MRO Supply at a fairly reasonable,if not cheap price, right around $5 for a 6119.I went on their site yesterday & almost fell out of my chair as I saw it listed for over $18! Needless to say,I searched around & found the 6119 seal on Rock Auto for just under $5.With...

I got the seals pulled earlier, then it started raining again just as I finished,so I called it quits for the day.I'm getting low on the 67906 seals, only one left,so I ordered some from "The Duke".The 67906 seals I have on hand don't have the smaller counterpart 110260.Is a SKF 6119 it's...

Yeah,it did have some air leak symptoms,so I guess seals are in order.

I got the PM 10-10 running today after a lot of monkeying around.First I had to put another module on & the old module didn't want to give up it's plug wire.Usually I can just twist the wire out of the module by hand,on this one I had to use a pliers to twist it out. Then the recoil decided to...

I got the PM 10-10 today around 6:00 p.m.I did go through it quickly & found that it has no spark, just as the seller said.It has 2/3 of a sawdust screen, the chain brake was inoperable,& the muffler looks like it needs to be replaced.I did get the chain brake working again (I think). It does have...

Oh what a mess that 610 was inside.I've never seen this happen before, but the spring in the plug boot was completely rusted into pieces.I had to change the plug wire & in order to do that I needed to take the fan housing off.Three out of the four screws came out with some heat & a few sharp...

I met up with a neighbor of mine a few weeks ago & I told him that I repaired older chainsaws as a hobby. He said he had some of his dad's old saws & would like to get them back in running condition again.Today he stopped by with a Mac 610 that's in remarkable condition. He says it probably hasn't...

Today I dug out my 1st 7-10A that I bought about 6 yrs.ago.I haven't fired this saw up in probably 5 or 6 yrs.I was surprised to see that I'd put a 24 in.bar & brand new chain on it.I fueled it up & pulled it over about 8 times & it fired. The next pull had it running like it had never been put...

I took a couple of saws out to the wood pile to test auto oilers.First was the 10-10S & it seems to be working just fine. Next was the PM 700 which only the manual oiler worked.I took the oil tank cover off & found an allen head cap screw & a washer just laying there. At first I couldn't...

I agree wholeheartedly with Mark.Steve your kids will grow up too fast, they're only small once.I was just talking with friends last night about when my son was 3 & 4 yrs.old,he'll be 30 in June.I'd give anything to have those days back. When I first started out with saws about 6 yrs.ago...

I picked up another nice looking PM 10-10 today for $75.It's supposed to have good compression, but no spark.I'll check the points out first & if still no fire I'll throw a different condenser in it.For those of you who think $75 is too much for a 10-10,try pricing them.Gone are the days of...
