Those suckers ain’t cheap around here
The funny thing is.....I forgotten I had this one.
When I bought my place from a old widow that was a friend of the family.
She left a bunch of stuff in the shed that was her husband's.
It was up in the rafters mounted on a big piece of timber.
I was up there digging out some lumber that was up there this spring and found it.

I need a couple of these for a few, basic vises I have (Craftsman, Monkey Ward, Columbian, etc.). Anyone know where to find them?

I found some Wilton versions a while back, but they wanted something like $30 a piece. There has to be a source for more basic vises. Bottom half is just a hardened carriage bolt.

'swivel lock nut'

Thanks.

I was looking for the Athol. But ended up with just putting hardened carriage bolt and nut. I never have the need to rotate it.

I like to rotate.

Could make something with a coupler nut, drilled to take a rod, but there has to be somebody making and selling these.

OK, you inspired me to search again. I guess that words matter!

Struck out with the term: 'swivel lock nut' (used on a parts diagram).
Did better with: 'vise locking nut' (found on another diagram).
Even better with: 'Wilton 11104S51 Lock Nut and Bolt', starting at about $5 each. Have to verify the thread.

Cool thread!
I have a large vise made by Howard Iron Works in Buffalo NY. Opens to approximately 11” between the jaws and 32” overall length and weighs 110 lbs.
Howard Iron Works went out of business in 1874 if I remember correctly.
It is pictured top center in the ad below.
I’ll try to get some pics tomorrow.

Yea. Got to see that up close. Neat history and need to no more.

For that price I would buy two and harden one. My Lance vise locking nut striped out eairly in his career.

That should be in a museum. Could be the oldest on this site.
I couldn’t part with it.
I have another but this one gets the most use.
I love the course thread, opens and closes with little handle rotation.
Large opening also lets me use it as a press in some instances.
